Reviews not one of their best shows, very weak poker and weak lay down opener. great freestyle during love and memories, and the downeaster alexa was nice. Paitently was a nice suprise and anyway had a sick jam. All in all, a decent show, but i didnt love it. I do hope they play the downeaster alexa again so someone could record it. -aboutanhrago August 13, 2006
Very fun show. Patiently was a great suprise (Ed- Played much later in the set. Order is off somewhat- Heard The World before L&M). Anyway was a fantastic version. Whose Chariot? was excellent and the 3 song Encore with a rocking 52-50 made the show. Great time. -tindawg31 August 13, 2006
Not that good of a show. Crowd wasn't that into it and the band didn't seem enthused at all. There's a problem when Love & Memories gets the most applause.

Downeaster Alexa was the only highlight. -BltByKrmn August 13, 2006
The fact that i had first row made it a good show for me.Was an Okay setlist. I like the freestyles.Had a great time.52-50,Dareh Meyod, and the stranger were my highlights. -oneshot23 August 13, 2006
I thought the show was amazing. downeastern alexa.. r u kidding me.. long island people love billy.. anyway and whos chairot were the highlights.. they and the crowd were very into it. they even said it was a speical night lucky number 10 show by the way -dannyyellin August 13, 2006
show overall was ok....the people in my section were totally into it but idk bout the rest of the place...highlights were patiently, about an hour ago and i feel home....love and memories was better than poker which shudnt be...wished they played more older songs -SoMovedOn13 August 13, 2006
The show as is said was OK. I do not know if it is because they played more newer things and left out notable favorites, so they crowd at times did not really play there part, but for a true OAR fan it was a great show I thought. Playing great older songs that you would not think that they would play, what a great surprise. I thought the encore was the best one that I have ever seen. Poker was great!!!!! As was 52-50.
In my opinion the band was really into it and played extremely well, not that they do not always play well, but they consistently play better every time, I am amazed.
It was a good show, not the best, but not bad by far. I think that they are all a little of a disappointment after MSG!!!! -bflat624 August 13, 2006
I dont know how you could be dissapointed by this show....everyone around me was singing, rocking out, and having a sick time. Patiently was amazing and so was anyway. I thought Lay Down was better then usual, im not a fan of Daylight the Dog to me that was the only dissapointment of the night.....and Downeaster Alexis was freakingg sick -nysports582 August 14, 2006
Ok first things first....

1) OAR is a great band and put on a good show. I was mad close and made my night that much better. I love seeing them live; always love it. Patiently was great to hear.

2) JONES BEACH AMPHITHEATER is POS as a company and its UTTER BULLSHIT that they dont allow tapers to tape EVEN THOUGH OAR allow it. I will never again go to Jones Beach to see a concert. According to the soundboard guy SUPPOSEDLY OAR wont play at JONES BEACH again either b/c of the union sh*t that goes on at Jones Beach. There was more F'n security at Jones Beach at this show than at any DMB concert I've been to (NOT to mention they are just A LITTLE TOO ANAL RETENTIVE). Thanks to an OLD B*TCH security dude (who probably gets no sex at home...lol) shut down the soundboard pull operation for this venue.

3) I met Nate Acker....cool fellow. Hopefully you got to jury rig something Nate but what a SUSPECT union operation Jones Beach runs. NEVER AGAIN.

4) Jack's Mannequin put on a hell of an opener. I will now be checkin out their music more. GOOD PERFORMANCE BY ALL.

All in all, b/c of the bullshit that goes on at Jones Beach ampitheater (restriction wise) OAR shouldnt play there. Through the grapevine any band that has tapers tape a show there, the band gets fined $20K....thanks A'holes!! If it weren't for the union winners Acker and I would've had soundboard pulls to share with you all. So you can all thank the Jones Beach amphitheater for screwin their fans!

and I'm done :) -dmbgreystreet05 August 14, 2006
This was my 4th time seeing O.A.R. and it definetley wasn't the best. Even though they did sound really tight I wasn't as amazed as I thought I would be. I think the reason for that was the crowd. The crowd was overall ok but at sometimes during the show they could have been more into it. I think if they were it the band would have been a little more enthused. You deffinetley know something is wrong when Love and Memories gets the biggest applause. Songs that I thought were highlights were:

Whose Chariot?
Patiently
The Downeaster 'Alexa'
52-50
Poker

It was nice to see the crowd going absolutley nuts during poker, and 52-50 was just insane. dmbgreystreet05, your deffinetley right man this whole recording bull shit in Jones is really retarted and they should allow it. all in all not a bad show but they deffinetley could have put on a better performance with a better setlist. Basically Jones Beach sucks.

and was it me or did the sound feel kind of wack?? -slick923 August 14, 2006
i thougth it was a great show...even tho they didnt play gerat oldies like dleicate few, black rock, mr brown, city on down..it was still awesome cuz they jammed out to each song they playeddd...they even said it themsleves...the show at MSG will be one of if not the best shows they ever played....and they went on at 830?!?! what was up with that...we were out of there by 1020 i think it wass--all in all seeign them is always amazinggggg -nhlpunk101 August 14, 2006
The show was OK. It wasn't one of the best though. The crowd wasn't that great. It was mostly kids getting trashed that did't care that much about the music. After a great show at SPAC on tuesday this was a bit of a bummer. Any O.A.R. show is still a good show though. -ladanday103 August 14, 2006
o.a.r. continues to put on amazing shows 1 after another. This was not my favorite concert but they did play rediculously well I thought. Patiently was nuts such a surprise and then dareh, anyway, about an hour ago, 52-50 and poker were aboslutly nuts. Noone around me except the people i was sitting with seemed to enthused at times i felt we were the only ones going aboslutly nutss. Its guna be hard seeing o.a.r. play after seeing the at MSG. All in all great show but not enough energy and a little bit of a weak playlist but they made up for it with the rare songss -bel1134 August 14, 2006
This was my second O.A.R. show, the first being MSG....huge letdown after going to MSG first...i thought they played a bit to much new stuff/ songs they dont really play...I was extremely pleased with hearing Anyway...however i really wanted to hear About Mr. Brown. i also thought that the scenery was great...during the show there were swans swimming off to the right of the stage, a shooting star above it, and the moon off to the left was nice too. -Chrisman09 August 14, 2006
I sat in the front row so I have a different perspective. I thought the band had really good energy and the jamming on numerous songs was awesome. They definitely seemed like they enojyed themselves.
Jones Beach is without a doubt the worst possible venue to see a concert. Additionally, summer crowds suck as it becomes a social event for kids coming home from college.
52-50 was the best I had ever heard it. I also thought Poker was great. How many times can you hear the same thing over and over again. Changing the songs up is what makes O.A.R. one of the best bands ou there.
Overall a typical Jones Beaach O.A.R. show. For some reason JOnes Beach doesn't get the best setlists. -berg0804 August 14, 2006
wow...i'm really surprised that there are alotta ppl on here saying that this show wasn't too good. they had a really great setlist it appears. i went to the show the night after and they never played about an hour ago or i feel home...2 songs i really wanted to hear -intheendmyfriend127 August 14, 2006
dissapointing. the show was too SOAS oriented and the love and memories crowd loved every second of it. the setlist was pretty weak considering i had to hear daylight the dog for the third time and i was deprived of my COD. they did play patiently though which was a great surprise and amazingly played. the new solo on L & M is sick and really says new things about the direction the band is trying to take their new material. anyway was probably the best ive ever heard it, jerry had a sick solo. the downeaster alexa was such a surprise and sounded amazing for the first time they performed it. poker on the otherhand was weak. the energy was lacking and this new highest mountain outro should become the highest mountain tag, instead of it taking the place of a sick part of the song. -lazytj20 August 14, 2006
the show was a little weak, i can't deny that...i loved downeaster alexa and about an hour ago...patiently was also a great surprise, i liked the new highest mountain outro for poker but they cut out a lot of the song...very good show nontheless -buggin311 August 14, 2006
I agree with the majority that the show wasnt as good as i thought it would be. i live in between pnc arts center in jersey and jones beach long island and i wasnt sure which venue to see them at. i chose jones beach and i am upst with my choice. the setlist for pnc was incredible and this setlist was pretty weak. i thought that jerry on sax and even michael paris on keys tore shit up!!!!!!!!!!!! michael paris had a few sick ass solos and jerry was fired up. highlights for me were the downeaster alexa and 52-50. its o.a.r. baby gotta love it -cah44 August 14, 2006
Not a bad show...not great either. I went to the show a few weeks ago at the Tweeter Center and it was much better. Setlist was pretty weak -- stanger and daylight the dog should not have been played over city on down and others that werent. Jones Beach is a sick place, however the security was pretty gay. All in all it was a good time though -shanman45 August 14, 2006
Lay Down - Not an openner. Not even close. should be scratched from all shows
Wonderful Day - not a fan
Whose Chariot?- good, bridge could have been better
Dareh Meyod - awsome
The Stranger - ok
The Downeaster 'Alexa' - amazing stuff. really cool, unfortunatly many people didnt know the song
About An Hour Ago- something different
One Shot- ehh
Anyway- Amazing!!! best song of the night
Daylight The Dog- stunk
Patiently- ok
Heard The World- good stuff, best of the new songs
Hey Girl- typical but still great
Love And Memories- energy was better than poker on this song, scary scary stuff

I Feel Home- love this song, it gets better every time
52-50- fun, crowd got into it
That Was A Crazy Game Of Poker- highest mountain is great. not the best, not the worst.

Crowd was ehhh and setlist was below average but still a fun night -Friedberg August 14, 2006
great show, chariot dareh meyod and anyway were sick -nof30 August 15, 2006
That was a wonderfull day...partying in the parking lot beforehand and a sick cover of "Alexa," good times.... -dCaveney August 15, 2006
I did not think that this was a great show at all. Lay Down was not the right opening song. Downeaster Alexa was a great song. Played Really Well. I wasnt diggin the Highest mountain tag on poker. Most of the song was left out which was very disappointing. Patiently and Dareh Meyod were great song to play. That songs made my night. Very Disappointed in the way the setlist was put together. I thought that you guys could've played many more songs to liven up the setlist. More of the older songs would have done this.

City On Down
About Mr. Brown
Black Rock
Night Shift
Delicate Few
Destination
Missing Pieces

All Songs that couldve made the concert better.
From Previous Concerts I've been to or have heard the recordings of, It was not a great concert.

The jam in Love and Memories was just amazing. I think that was one of the best parts of the show. Wasnt really pleased with the Encore. It didnt seem like an encore, you were off the stage for 30 seconds. Daylight the Dog is not a great concert song.

All in all, though the setlist was not great it was a well played concert. -subs2422 August 16, 2006
Not so many good things to say about this show. Celine Dion had more energy in her recent rendition of God Bless America than these guys had tonight. When they played daylight the dog I started projectile vommiting uncontrolably all over my friends. Although I am one of the biggest OAR fans you will find, (a fan since their first shows and an atendee of over 25 concerts) the band now appeals less to the cool college kid and more to the 'NSYNC fan club. I would rather have gone to church and sing with Jesus than sit and listen to Marc in his monotone voice all night. Maybe these guys are burnt out from touring, but they most certainly did not want to play this concert. I really did vommit. -dbalot August 17, 2006
This concert was a milestone show for me, at least should have been. With this trip to Jones, it marked my 10th O.A.R show live. And I must say, this was the most disappointed I have ever walked away from one of their performances. After being on vacation for the Garden show, I was really looking forward to my annual trip to JB to see them. Unfortunaltely, they played to a weak setlist, a boring crowd, and a mediocre venue. I must say, they need to graduate from JB and stay away from the place that will fine performers $20k for recording a show. Not quite sure how you can put a restriction on a band that is simply putting their music out on the free market (free advertising) after you promote them as one of your summer highlights.

While every OAR Show is still great music, they could hav done better. The extended jam-out for Poker was decent, as was Heard the World, Anyway, and Hey Girl (as usual). And after seeing the piano man at MSG 5 times over the winter, hearing Downeastern Alexa covered was a great touch.

All in all, I give it a 7 out of 10...5 points for O.A.R. simply being O.A.R., 2 points for our seats (center of stage on top of middle entrance tunnel, directly behind orchestra audio booth), and 0 points for venue, setlist, crowd, etc.

Show was decent. I wish the sound was better. -shibz15 August 25, 2006
Here's a partial video of Downeaster Alexa. Such a tragedy it wasn't taped! I hope they do as great a job next time they play it.
