Reviews Fun show. Me and my buddy decided to go up last minute and were somehow able to score 10th row seats right at the venue box office. The first half of the show was very good. It was cool seeing the full band acoustic stuff in the middle and there was a legitimate segue between Lay Down and What Is Mine which was pretty cool. The middle of the show was kind of meh for me however. 5 out of 6 songs in a row from All Sides kind of killed a bit of momentum. Would have liked to see one or two of those subbed out for a KOTT or Whose Chariot?. Mr. Moon and Delicate Few were cool to close out the main set. Encore was fun, About An Hour Ago was good as usual with a nice Mikel Paris solo. Poker is always a good way to leave the night, although they must have been cutting it close to curfew or something b/c they only did the "I said Johnny..." part in the song once. The song stopped after the "Won't ever quit, won't ever stop" section. Overall this was another fun OAR show. The set was solid and although there were not any surprises, I'm really glad I decided to make the trip last minute. -mja271 August 7, 2009
Made the trip from long island with a bunch of my friends and i am so glad we did. Hey girl then mr. brown to start off i knew it would be an awsome night. Throw in i feel home, night shift, mr. moon, delicate few, and about an hour ago and the setlist is almost perfect. War song and on my way were also highlights for me. Going to saratoga in 2 days then MSG next week, I cant wait. -jerry4president August 7, 2009
solid playlist despite the small crowd. whats up with that hartford? A bunch of our friends and I came up from Long Island and had an absolute great time as usual at our favorite band's show. Also, just as always the playlist was amazing. From Hey girl as the opener to i feel home, what is mine, about an hour ago, and crazy game of poker to finish it up as the encore was great to see. We are going to MSG on the 15th and should be a great time, its going to be hard to match the last time they were there because we all know how great that show was but I am looking forward to it. See you at MSG. J dubbs have a good trip. See ya at Madison Square Garden, NY, NY -oarfan35 August 7, 2009
hey girl and mr brown to start off the show ... pretty much sums it up ... highlight of the night had to be war song, best version ive heard so far ... really cool new verses and different versions of songs made the whole night worth a long car trip there
cant wait for msg next week!! -newyorkcityondown August 8, 2009
great show...amazing start with hey girl and about mr. brown. Untitled and War Song were the two songs I was dying to hear and both got played. The acoustic set was very chill and relaxing but the on my way transition is probably one of the coolest things ive ever seen. The HD screens were sick and the whole set after the acoustic got everyone in the crowd pumped. The encore was only two songs but almost 30 minutes, with poker being right around 15 and about an hour ago around 11 minutes. I heard City on Down was originally on the setlist, would have loved to hear that as well but you can't win them all. All in all great show -brOAR August 11, 2009
A few people have said the crowd was really small...I'm not so sure it was that as much as it is the fact the Meadows holds around 33 thousand people. Regardless, it was an amazing setlist and the guys seemed to be really into it after over a month off. Hey Girl got it started off with a bang and it was great all the way through. Night Shift, What Is Mine (Chris drum beat on it is absolutely sick) and Delicate Few were the highlights of the night for me. -ItsPureLuck August 14, 2009
This year was my third O.A.R. show and being I'm from CT, i don't get to go to many shows. So when they come to hartford it's like a holiday for me and my buddies...of the three years i've seen them this was by far their best show. The setlist was amazing and we were totally going crazy when they played The Wanderer. Marc's freestyle at the end of What Is Mine was off the hook and i wish i could download it somewhere. I don't know what the deal is with this full band acoustic thing they're doing though. I just came back from MSG and they did it there too and the songs are no where near as good when they play them like that. But never hurts to try something new. Again this was an amazing show and an amazing night, can't wait til next year -nhkortsep88 August 16, 2009
